A Historic Library for the Community
Founded in 1893, the Helen Keller Public Library is the oldest chartered public library in Alabama still in continuous service. It was established by the Helen Keller Library and Literary Association in honor of Tuscumbia’s most famous native, Helen Keller, and began as a community effort supported by local residents and Keller’s own friends.
