Mayor William Foster

Mayor William Foster is a Tuscumbia native and has dedicated most of his life to serving the city and its people.  In 2009, William and his family founded the Rattlesnake Saloon.  Their business operation also includes the Seven Springs Lodge and has been the subject of national acclaim and recognition since its beginning.

Desiring to take on a new, more active role in his community, William ran for and won a seat on the City Council for the 3rd District in 2016.  William’s tenure on the city council led to several efforts to revitalize downtown Tuscumbia, including the Coldwater Commons Pocket Park, the DesignAlabama project for Spring Park, and Downtown Streetscapes.  Additionally, during his time on the city council he was able to assist many new businesses in establishing their operations in the city.

Mayor Foster was appointed by the city council to his position in November of 2022 following the resignation of former Mayor Kerry Underwood due to his election to the Alabama State house. As mayor, William also serves on they Shoals Solid Waste Authority Board, the Animal Control Board and the North Alabama Council of Local Government.

William graduated from Cherokee High School in 1994 and attended Auburn University, graduating in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in horticulture and ornamental production. William has received several recognitions for his service to the city including serving as president of the Tuscumbia Kiwanis in 2018.

From the foundation of the historic to the potential of its growth, Tuscumbia has much to offer. As Mayor, I promise to help us realize it.”
